Stay safe around live electrical systems

Electrical Safety First’s free Safe Isolation app tackles the dangerous practice of working on live electrical systems.

Based on ESF’s Best Practice Guide No. 2 (Guidance on the management of electrical safety and safe isolation procedures for low voltage isolation), the app is designed to be as easy to use as possible, taking a step-by-step approach to achieving safe isolation with a series of illustrations and simple instructions.

The app is available for iPhone and iPad and for Android phones, and allows electrical engineers and electricians to access this important information while they are working and keep themselves and others safe.

Cable protection at your fingertips

Specifying cable protection is now possible wherever you are thanks to Flexicon’s new find-a-conduit app.

Tim Creedon, sales and marketing director for Flexicon, said: “Specifying the correct conduit system for cable protection depends on the hazards faced by the system.

“Often this assessment is most easily done on site, so having a mobile tool that enables you to explore solutions on your phone or tablet is a big benefit.”

Complete room lighting control system

Helvar has introduced iDim Orbit, a complete room lighting control solution in a single sensor that offers features found in more complex systems, while maintaining simplicity and ease of use.

iDim Orbit’s mobile app features a library of standard application profiles, for example, classroom, office or corridor, as well as a profile scheduler.

Custom profiles can also be configured to suit each scenario, with the app able to adjust a three-stage sensor time-out, absence or presence detection, light level adjustment and dimming channel offset.

Send cable test results anywhere

The IDEAL AnyWARE app from IDEAL Networks allows users to view send data cable and network test reports to colleagues and clients anywhere.

The app connects to an IDEAL cable or network tester using WiFi and transfers test reports to the user’s mobile device.

It is available free for Apple and Android mobile devices.
