Nov 2018 Latest News | Comments Off on White Paper focuses on changes to overload protection

In the wake of the upcoming changes to BS 7671 – the 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations – overload protection has drawn a lot of attention in relation to the use of RCCBs and switches when incorporated into consumer units.

To help electrical professionals better understand the changes, which become effective from 1 January 2019, as well as propose installation methods to ensure future compliance, Hager has produced a comprehensive White Paper covering overload protection of RCCBs and switches within consumer units.

Available to download on the Hager website, the White Paper covers the following key areas on overload protection:

  • Where the changes to the regulations originate
  • What the new regulations cover
  • Views from the industry
  • Proposed methods and solutions to ensure future compliance
  • Steve York, market manager for residential and building automation at Hager, said: “The introduction of the 18th Edition next year means a period of transition and change for the industry. One of the key topics which has generated a lot of interest and discussion has been the new regulations around overload protection of RCCBs and switches within consumer units.

“As part of Hager’s commitment to support electrical professionals as the 18th Edition becomes reality, our latest White Paper gives instant access to important information and guidance. The White Paper also explains the background to the changes, as well as highlighting practical solutions, to help electricians ensure that future installations will be fully compliant.”
